Dr. Sarah Knowles was born and raised in London, Ontario, where she attended John Paul II Secondary School. She pursued a Bachelor of Health Sciences at McMaster University, where she developed a keen interest in global health, particularly the HIV epidemic in Africa. This passion led to her senior thesis and a rewarding volunteer project in Zimbabwe. Dr. Knowles earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University in 2011, where she also became actively involved in student leadership. She completed her General Surgery Residency and Fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology at Western University, cultivating a broad range of academic interests including trauma, critical care, acute care surgery, and hepatobiliary surgery. She also holds a Master of Science in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University. Currently, Dr. Knowles is a breast surgical oncologist and general surgeon in London, Ontario. She serves as the Medical Director of the Breast Care Program at St. Joseph’s Health Care.
