
- Melina Vassiliou
Dr. Vassiliou is an Associate Professor of Surgery at McGill University in Montreal. She is the Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) Fellowship Program Director and also served as the Program Director for the Surgical Foundations Program for many years. She completed her General Surgery residency and Masters of Education at McGill and did an MIS and Flexible Endoscopy Fellowship at Dartmouth in New Hampshire prior to returning on staff at McGill. Dr. Vassiliou’s research focuses mainly on Surgical Education including competency-based education, simulation, assessment, curriculum creation, program evaluation and the psychology of human learning and motivation. She has won several educational awards, including the 2018 Canadian Association for Medical Education Certificate of Merit. She currently Chairs the SAGES FLS committee and sits on the SAGES Board of Directors. Her work has been presented nationally and internationally and she continues to explore and innovate in the realm of surgical education.
